Web Summit Lisbon

Where to Stay for Web Summit Lisbon: Best Areas Compared

Where you sleep during Web Summit shapes your week: how early you leave, how tired you are and what you can do in the evening. Hotels fill up and prices rise during conference week, so decide early. Here are the main areas to consider.

Parque das Nações

The modern district where the event is held. You can walk to the venues, restaurants are plentiful along the river, and the area is flat and clean. The downside is that it feels far from historic Lisbon in the evening, and hotels here sell out first.

Best for: people who want minimum commuting and long days at the conference.

Baixa and Chiado

The historic centre has the greatest choice of restaurants, bars and sights, with metro lines nearby. You will need a metro ride, taxi or private driver to reach the venues each day.

Best for: combining the conference with sightseeing and nightlife.

Avenida da Liberdade and Marquês de Pombal

Lisbon’s elegant boulevard, with many upscale hotels, shops and restaurants, and easy metro access. It is central, calmer than Baixa at night and well suited to business travellers.

Best for: executives and teams who want comfort and a central base.

Saldanha and Avenidas Novas

A business district with practical hotels and good metro connections, often better value than the very centre. It is less atmospheric but efficient.

Best for: practical stays near several metro lines.

Near the airport

Hotels close to the airport make sense only for very early or late flights. You will spend more time commuting to the city.

Our advice

  • If your main goal is the conference, choose Parque das Nações or a hotel on the Oriente metro corridor.
  • If you want a real Lisbon experience, stay central and plan your daily transport in advance.
  • Book as early as possible; last-minute options in conference week are limited and expensive.
  • For groups, a private van transfer between hotel and venue can be simpler than coordinating taxis.
