The Lisbon region has several well-regarded golf courses within an hour of the city, combining coastline, pines and good winter weather. Golf trips run best when transport is organised, especially with bags.
Areas to know
- Cascais and Sintra coast. Several established courses, such as those at Quinta da Marinha, Penha Longa and Oitavos Dunes, close to the sea and the Sintra hills.
- Setúbal peninsula. Courses such as Aroeira and Troia, with softer scenery and quieter roads.
- Lisbon outskirts. Courses like Belas, convenient for a morning round before a flight or meeting.
Each club has its own booking rules, dress code and green fees, so check directly with the club before you travel.
Travelling with golf bags
- A taxi or small car may not fit multiple bags and luggage together. A van is easier for groups.
- Tell the transfer company how many players and bags you have.
- Airlines have their own rules for golf equipment; check before flying.
Our golf transfers
We offer golf transfers between airport, hotel and course, with a van for up to eight passengers and their equipment. You can book a point-to-point transfer, or choose hourly hire if you want your driver to wait during the round. See the form on our home page.
Plan a rest day
For non-golfers or a day off, Cascais, Sintra and the coast are close by: see our Sintra guide.
